Having originated from the Belgian boar hunter Brabanter Bullenbeisser and English Bulldog, these canines were very strong, agile and possessive at work, but very playful and entertaining at home. The first club devoted to these animals was founded in Germany in 1860’s. The official standard was accepted in 1895. In that time, most canines of this breed were white, but nowadays, the breed standard changed and white animals are not accepted to conformation shows.
